The Position
For their new plant in Goldsboro, North Carolina Alianza Team is looking for a Quality & Food Safety Leader!
In this role you will lead the overall quality and food safety process, including compliance with federal regulations. In this position you will work closely with your counterparts in Mexico and Colombia to ensure international alignment.
As the quality leader you lead investigations for Customer Complaints and Deviations (CAPA) using root cause analysis tools to prevent recurrence.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage GFSI certification audits (FSSC 22000/SQF) and regulatory inspections (FDA/USDA), ensuring constant 'audit readiness'.
Lead the development and maintenance of food safety plans in compliance with federal regulations (FDA/USDA) and management system standards (SQF/FSSC 22000).
Oversee GFSI certification audits and regulatory inspections, ensuring constant audit readiness.
Lead investigations for Customer Complaints and Deviations (CAPA) using root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone) to prevent recurrence.
Manage investigations for customer complaints and implement continuous improvement projects to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
Drive & Support compliance with industrial safety (OSHA) and environmental (EPA) standards within the Quality Department.
Act as PCQI leading the maintenance and update of the Food Safety Plan in compliance with FSMA, ensuring control of hazards (biological, chemical, physical).
Oversee prerequisite programs: EMP (Environmental Monitoring Program), Allergens, SSOPs (Sanitation), and Pest Control.
Implement improvement projects (Yield improvement/Scrap reduction) using Statistical Process Control (SPC) to reduce variability in weight and packaging.
Manage the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) if applicable for imported raw materials.
Define and prioritize, in collaboration with process owners, training and awareness needs related to management systems.
Ensure the approval and standardization of critical processes defined at the corporate level, guiding their implementation.
Direct the planning and focus of internal and external audits within the operation, ensuring they are oriented toward system effectiveness and value creation.
Execute other activities related to the development and strengthening of regional management, aligned with the scope of the position.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 4-5 years of experience in food manufacturing, with direct experience handling FDA or USDA inspections.
Strong knowledge of FDA regulations (CFR 21 Part 117), FSMA, HACCP, and GFSI standards.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a strongly preferred.
