The Position
For their new plant in Goldsboro, North Carolina Alianza Team is looking for a hands-on Supply Chain / Logistics Coordinator to act as the end-to-end owner of transportation for our Goldsboro operation, managing both inbound (ports → plant) and outbound (plant → customers) flows across the United States.
Role Purpose
This role owns the daily execution and design of the transportation system, integrating truck and rail, making pragmatic decisions on mode selection, cost, service, risk and continuity, and resolving operational issues as they arise.
This is a highly operational role, critical to ensuring supply continuity and customer service while the operation continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities
• Own and execute inbound and outbound transportation for the Goldsboro plant, including ports, suppliers, transloading sites, customers and distribution centers.
• Design and operate a multi-modal transportation network (truck + rail), including intermodal, drayage, rail spur coordination and yard/appointment management.
• Select, negotiate and manage carriers, brokers, 3PLs and rail partners, including rates, contracts, performance management and basic claims.
• Lead day-to-day transportation execution, resolving incidents, delays, capacity issues and service failures with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset.
• Balance cost, service level, risk and operational continuity in all transportation decisions.
• Monitor carrier performance, OTIF, freight costs and operational KPIs; drive continuous improvement initiatives.• Coordinate closely with Operations, Planning, Foreign Trade, Commercial and Finance teams.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. transportation regulations, safety standards and food industry requirements.
• Review and approve freight invoices and manage freight accruals.
Ideal Candidate Profile
• 8–15+ years of proven transportation experience in the U.S., with real ownership of inbound and outbound operations.
• Strong multi-modal background, with direct or closely related experience in rail + truck, including intermodal and drayage.
• Demonstrated experience in transportation procurement and negotiation (carriers, rates, contracts).
• Well-established network of contacts (carriers, brokers, 3PLs, rail partners) and ability to expedite when needed.
• Hands-on, no-ego operator: willing to call customers, go to the plant floor, step into the warehouse and solve problems personally.
• Strong operational judgment and ability to make fast, pragmatic decisions under pressure.
• Comfortable working with data and KPIs (Excel, dashboards), but not an ERP/system-centric role.
What This Role Is Not
This is not a systems, ERP or IT-heavy role.
Deep SAP / Oracle expertise is not a priority and can even be counterproductive.
Success is defined by freight moving, issues being solved, service protected and costs controlled, especially while systems continue to mature.
What Success Looks Like
Reliable inbound flow to the Goldsboro plant with minimal disruptions.
Strong outbound service levels to customers.
A stable, well-performing carrier base across truck and rail.
Transportation costs controlled and optimized without sacrificing service.
A logistics operation that runs smoothly day-to-day, even under volatility.
