Lab Technician / QA Analyst

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
Verify, with a preventive approach, the compliance of quality and safety parameters and specifications for raw materials, in‑process products, and finished products through inspection and the execution of analyses according to analytical techniques.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform analyses for raw materials, intermediate products and final products, including (but not limited to): GC chromatography, slip melting point, solid fat content by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), moisture, free fatty acid content, peroxide value, anisidine value, iodine value.
Perform analyses to verify the quality characteristics of raw materials, in process products, and finished products to verify compliance or deviation according to established specifications and quality plans.
Ensure a complete and clear understanding of the methods and techniques required to ensure the quality control of the plant
Report punctual and accurate results and deviations in a timely manner to manufacturing personnel to support process control.
Manage and ensure the proper use and consumption of reagents and consumables and keep their updated inventory to ensure the continuous operation of the laboratory and the plant.
Verify that vehicles, tank trucks, ISO tanks, and any other containers used for loading and unloading raw materials or final products comply with the food grade standard practices and specifications
Retain nonconforming or potentially unsafe product that is out of specification.
Perform routinely checks on lab equipment to identify equipment failures, and manage to get proper and preventive repairing and maintenance action
Analyze data obtained from plant process analyses and/or outsourced processes and report results
Organize samples and counter samples from the quality process; ensure cleanliness and order of equipment and laboratory areas in accordance with the 5S methodology.
Support the development of projects aimed at improving processes or implement new products in the plant
Keep the lab in correct order and do the cleaning of work tools such as glassware and instruments, as well as of workstations, and equipment
Prepare quality certificates for finished products.
Comply with Good Laboratory Practices, food safety, occupational safety, and environmental standards in quality processes, including sampling, inspections, analyses, and the use of PPE in the workplace.
Comply with and promote adherence to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), fostering an organizational culture aligned with company policies.
Assure safe and correct disposition of waste chemicals according to legal requirements
Support internal initiatives and programs aimed to:
identify root causes for quality and safety deviations.
reduce internal nonconformities in processes and finished products.
Process and plant efficiency
support the efficiency of scheduled line startups.
Ensure quality throughout the entire process.
EDUCATION:
Chemist, chemical engineer, food scientist
EXPERIENCE:
Not required. Preferred: 1+ years of experience in the fats & oils industry
