The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing the execution of banquet and catering events, ensuring exceptional guest service and smooth operations before, during, and after each event. This role supports in leading the banquet team, coordinates with the culinary and events departments, and ensures Marriott brand standards are consistently met while creating memorable guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead the banquet team during all events, ensuring efficient and professional service.

• Conduct pre-shift briefings and assign duties to banquet associates.

• Coordinate event setup, execution, and breakdown according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).

• Ensure all banquet rooms are set up according to guest specifications and Marriott standards.

• Maintain constant communication with the Events, Sales, and Culinary teams to ensure seamless event execution.

• Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation, and service throughout each event.

• Anticipate guest needs and promptly resolve any service issues or complaints.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and food handling standards.

• Monitor staffing levels and assist with scheduling based on business demands.

• Train, coach, and motivate banquet associates while promoting teamwork and excellent guest service.

• Maintain banquet equipment, supplies, and inventory, reporting maintenance needs when necessary.

• Complete event reports and communicate feedback to management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Hospitality or Tourism education is an advantage.

• Minimum 2 years of banquet or food & beverage supervisory experience, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort.

• Leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple events simultaneously.

• Knowledge of banquet service standards, food safety, and beverage service.

• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Proficiency in English; Dutch, Spanish, or Papiamentu is considered an asset.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
